The busy Communion & Confirmation season is finally upon us and we have put together a quick list of tips to aid you in planning your party.
Budget
Set yourself a budget once you begin planning the party and adhere to it strictly. Don’t forget to set aside some cash in case of last minute unexpected costs!
Communion Entertainment
Bouncy castles are a firm favourite with children while entertainers such as magicians and puppet shows are ideal if the weather doesn’t suit for outdoor activities. Other popular options include piñatas, trampolines and video games.
Decorations
Choosing a colour theme or particular style will help you to organise things a lot easier. Flowers, balloons and bunting can all add to the occasion and be put up around the house with minimal effort. Don’t forget napkins and tablecloths.
Food & Drink
Find a caterer that suit your needs and tastes. Confirm exact numbers with guests and keep the catering company updated about the party size. A buffet style spread is often the most popular choice as it offers guests a variety of dishes to suit all tastes. If you get the caterer to supply the main dishes you can bulk up the offering with some homemade desserts and cakes to add a personal touch. If serving hot food hiring in chafing dishes or a bain marie might be worthwhile.
Setting Up
Make sure you have a sufficient amount of tables, chairs, cutlery and linen ready in advance of the party. A small marquee or gazebo is a worthwhile addition to any party, especially with the nature of Irish weather.
