Wedding trends for 2020

wedding

In terms of Wedding Trends, 2020 is set to be a year of individuality. The running theme is being yourself and creating the wedding fairy-tale ‘You’ have dreamed of, not your Mother, Mother in law, or your cousin Jen, this is your ‘Big Day’! Having had a year filled with polka dot wedding gowns, and enormous wedding cakes, the focus for 2020 is displaying your personality on this very special day through décor in particular.

Day in, day out we spend our time scrolling and being influenced by spectacular floral walls and weddings abroad on hundreds of insta-fabulous accounts. Our top tip is choosing a theme or aesthetic that matches you and your partners personalities.

The Fashion

According to many magazines and blogs, wedding dresses with pockets are one of the hot bridal trends for this year. Who doesn’t love a dress with pockets? In terms of practicality they’re great! You can store your phone or maybe your favourite lipstick, keep in mind you’ll want to be photo ready at all moments!  If pockets aren’t your thing fear not! There are thousands of designers creating thousands of different looks every day.

Another style we have seen creeping into 2020 are gowns with sleeves. Once resigned to the bygone era of the 50s and 60s, longer elegant gowns are seeing somewhat of a comeback, as we fall back in love with the romance of weddings.

If you have your head set on a rustic wedding, each year see’s a refreshed bohemian look. There are always whimsical, romantic, and boho-inspired wedding dresses for free-spirited brides who want to look effortlessly chic.

The Food

Though we experienced a lot of interesting food trends in 2019, communal feasting remains as one of the top wedding food trends. Grazing tables are a great way to get people socialising and what better way to bond then over some delicious foods. The possibilities are endless, choose anything from speciality cheeses, cured meats, dips, bread, crackers and chutney, dried fruit and nuts. To keep it aesthetically pleasing for yourself and your guests we recommend that you use a variety of coloured foods.

Another popular choice for 2020 is the farm to table approach. Couples are choosing to select locally sourced produce (local to them, or their family home). Not only is it delicious but it’s a very sweet way of incorporating the couple’s childhood favourite dishes.

The Furniture

Last year couples were very décor orientated. Interestingly, 2020 is a year that we will see a lot of couples focusing on lighting fixtures. Great lighting can make your wedding venue glisten in the moonlight and sizzle at sunset. Good lighting is key to creating a romantic ambience at your Wedding. We will see a mix of hanging pendants, lampshades and chandeliers throughout weddings to create unique lighting situations.

There’s going to be a real move to escapism and fairy-tale touches. You can expect to see incredible centre pieces and tablescapes, with a hint of the traditional white wedding. This will be the perfect time to set your inner Disney Character free. Grand round tables with sleek white table cloths, covered in gems and jewels will be a popular choice.

Tablescapes have quickly risen to one of the most important features. This is where people are brought together and will remain for a long period of the wedding. Most couples are selecting simple elegance for their tablescapes. It generally consists of silver cutlery, gleaming glasses, and candles to add to the romantic atmosphere.

2020 will bring an array of unique styles incorporating chandeliers under trees and pergolas with hanging fairy lights. Playing on the bo-ho chic theme, you’ll spot lots of indoor furniture being moved and set up outside and in marquees, so don’t be alarmed if you see a full sofa hanging out in a field.
